Preserve the vibrant flavors of your homemade vinaigrette by storing it correctly. This versatile dressing, crafted with fresh ingredients, can elevate salads and marinades when kept at its best.
Storage Time
Homemade vinaigrette typically lasts for 1 to 2 weeks when refrigerated, depending on the ingredients used. Some oil-based vinaigrettes without perishable additions might last slightly longer.
Temperature
Store homemade vinaigrette in an airtight container in the refrigerator, ideally between 0-4°C (32-40°F).
Signs of Spoilage
- An off, rancid, or sour smell that is distinctly different from the intended aroma of the ingredients.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy patches of various colors (white, green, black) on the surface or within the dressing.
- A significant change in texture, such as excessive separation that cannot be re-emulsified, or a slimy or gummy consistency.
