Delicious pork meatballs, whether homemade or store-bought, offer a versatile protein option for countless meals. Proper storage is key to maintaining their savory flavor and ensuring food safety for your family.
Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer for best quality.
Temperature
Store refrigerated pork meatballs at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Pork meatballs freeze exceptionally well, preserving their texture and taste. For optimal results, cool cooked meatballs completely and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet before freezing until solid. Once frozen, transfer them to airtight freezer bags or containers, removing as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. Thaw frozen meatballs safely in the refrigerator overnight, or reheat them directly from frozen in a covered pan or oven, ensuring they reach an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F).
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or off smell, distinct from the usual savory aroma.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the surface of the meatballs.
- Visible mold growth or significant discoloration, such as graying or greenish hues.
