Fresh ravioli, a delightful Italian pasta filled with various savory ingredients, requires careful storage to maintain its exquisite texture and flavor. Proper refrigeration is key to preventing spoilage and ensuring a delicious meal.
Storage Time
Fresh ravioli typically lasts 2-3 days in the refrigerator. Uncooked, frozen ravioli can last for 1-2 months.
Temperature
Store fresh ravioli in the refrigerator at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
To freeze fresh ravioli, ensure it is uncooked and dry. Lay individual ravioli in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer the ravioli to an airtight freezer bag or container. This prevents sticking and freezer burn. To cook from frozen, add directly to boiling water and cook for a few minutes longer than fresh. Do not thaw before cooking.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or off odor emanating from the pasta.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the surface of the ravioli.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy spots of various colors.
