Enjoy the earthy sweetness of skirret mash, a delightful root vegetable preparation. This creamy mash is best savored when fresh, but can be stored for a short period to extend its enjoyment.
Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator
Temperature
Store refrigerated at 0–4°C (32–40°F) to maintain optimal freshness and safety.
Freezing
Skirret mash can be frozen for longer storage, though texture may slightly change upon thawing. Allow the mash to cool completely, then portion it into airtight containers or freezer bags. To thaw, transfer to the refrigerator overnight or gently reheat from frozen in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Some slight wateriness is normal and can be reduced by simmering briefly.
Signs of Spoilage
- Unpleasant sour or fermented odor.
- Slimy or mushy texture that was not present when fresh.
