Zucchini pizza, a delightful twist on the classic, features fresh zucchini slices atop a cheesy base. This veggie-packed pizza is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored properly to extend its shelf life. Proper storage ensures the zucchini remains crisp and the crust doesn't become soggy.
Storage Time
1–2 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Keep refrigerated at 4°C (40°F) or below.
Freezing
To freeze zucchini pizza, first allow it to cool completely. Wrap individual slices tightly in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer bag or airtight container. This prevents freezer burn and maintains the pizza's flavor. For best results, consume within 2-3 months. To thaw, transfer the frozen pizza to the refrigerator overnight or reheat directly from frozen in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) until heated through. Note that freezing may slightly alter the texture of the zucchini, making it softer.
Signs of Spoilage
- Soggy or slimy crust
- Sour or off-putting smell
- Visible mold growth on the zucchini or cheese
- Discoloration of the zucchini (browning or darkening)
