Storage Time
Up to 2 years in the pantry when stored correctly; cooked pasta lasts 3–4 days in the refrigerator.
Temperature
Store dry pasta in a cool, dry place, ideally between 15–21°C (59–70°F). Cooked pasta should be refrigerated at 0–4°C (32–40°F).
Freezing
Uncooked bow tie pasta freezes exceptionally well, maintaining its texture and integrity. For best results, place dry pasta in an airtight freezer bag or container, removing as much air as possible. Frozen uncooked pasta can be cooked directly from frozen, though it may require a minute or two longer. Cooked bow tie pasta can also be frozen, but its texture may become slightly softer upon thawing. To thaw, transfer frozen cooked pasta to the refrigerator overnight or reheat gently in a saucepan with a little water or sauce.
Signs of Spoilage
- Presence of mold or discoloration on dry pasta.
- An off, musty, or rancid odor emanating from the pasta.
- Cooked pasta exhibiting a slimy texture or sour smell.
