Fresh camel milk offers a unique nutritional profile, rich in vitamins and minerals, making it a sought-after dairy alternative. Proper storage is crucial to preserve its delicate flavor and beneficial properties for optimal consumption.
Storage Time
3-5 days in the refrigerator once opened; up to 6 months when frozen.
Temperature
Keep refrigerated at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Camel milk freezes exceptionally well, retaining most of its nutritional value and flavor. Pour the milk into airtight, freezer-safe containers, leaving a small headspace for expansion. Thaw slowly in the refrigerator overnight for the best quality. Avoid refreezing once thawed. Some separation may occur upon thawing, which is normal; simply shake well before use.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or pungent odor, distinctly different from its natural, slightly sweet aroma.
- A curdled or lumpy texture, indicating bacterial growth.
- A change in color, such as a yellowish tint or the presence of mold.
