Properly storing cooked parboiled rice is key to enjoying its fluffy texture and nutty flavor for longer. This versatile grain, when handled with care, can be a convenient staple for quick meals.
Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Store refrigerated cooked rice at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Cooked parboiled rice freezes exceptionally well. Allow the rice to cool completely before portioning it into airtight containers or freezer bags. For best quality, consume within 2-3 months. To thaw, refrigerate overnight or gently reheat from frozen in a microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of water to restore moisture.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or off smell, distinct from its usual mild aroma.
- A slimy or sticky texture, indicating bacterial growth.
