The classic Egg McMuffin, featuring a perfectly cooked egg, Canadian bacon, and melty cheese on a toasted English muffin, is a breakfast staple. Proper storage ensures you can enjoy this delicious and convenient meal at its best.
Storage Time
Best consumed within 1-2 days when refrigerated; can be frozen for up to 1 month for longer-term enjoyment.
Temperature
Store in the refrigerator at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
To freeze an Egg McMuffin, allow it to cool completely. Wrap each sandwich tightly in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil or place in a freezer-safe bag to prevent freezer burn. To reheat, remove the foil and plastic wrap, then microwave on a paper towel for 1-2 minutes, or bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes until heated through. Note that the texture of the English muffin may soften slightly after freezing and reheating.
Signs of Spoilage
- Unpleasant, sour, or sulfurous odor emanating from the sandwich.
- Slimy or sticky texture on the egg, cheese, or muffin.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy spots of various colors.
