Glass noodles, also known as cellophane noodles or bean thread noodles, are a versatile pantry staple made from starch like mung bean, sweet potato, or tapioca. Their translucent appearance when cooked and ability to absorb flavors make them perfect for stir-fries, soups, and salads, offering a delightful chewy texture.
Storage Time
Unopened packages can last indefinitely in the pantry, but once opened, aim to use within 6-12 months for optimal quality. Cooked glass noodles will only last 1-2 days in the refrigerator.
Temperature
Store unopened packages in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate cooked glass noodles.
Signs of Spoilage
- Visible mold growth on dry noodles.
- An off, musty, or rancid odor emanating from the package.
- Clumping or stickiness in dry noodles that were previously loose, indicating moisture absorption and potential spoilage.
