Ladoo, a beloved Indian sweet, is a delightful spherical confection typically made from flour, ghee, sugar, and various nuts and spices. Enjoy these delicious treats at their best by understanding proper storage techniques to maintain their rich flavor and appealing texture.
Storage Time
3–5 days at room temperature in an airtight container, up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator, and 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Store at cool room temperature (18-22°C) for short-term, or refrigerate at 0-4°C for longer shelf life.
Freezing
Ladoo freezes exceptionally well, preserving its taste and texture for extended periods. Ensure ladoos are completely cooled before wrapping them individually in plastic wrap or parchment paper, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container. To thaw, simply remove the desired amount from the freezer and let them come to room temperature for about 30-60 minutes. Avoid microwaving as it can alter the texture.
Signs of Spoilage
- Development of a rancid or sour smell, especially from the ghee or nuts.
- A sticky or mushy texture, indicating moisture absorption or spoilage.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy patches of various colors.
