Store your delightful shell pasta in a cool, dry pantry to maintain its perfect texture and flavor for future culinary creations. This versatile pasta shape is ideal for capturing sauces, making it a pantry staple for quick and satisfying meals.
Storage Time
Up to 2 years in the pantry when stored properly; cooked pasta lasts 3–4 days in the refrigerator.
Temperature
Pantry: Store in a cool, dry place, ideally between 15-21°C (59-70°F). Refrigerator (cooked pasta): Keep refrigerated at 0–4°C (32–40°F).
Freezing
Uncooked shell pasta can be frozen for extended shelf life, though it's generally unnecessary given its long pantry life. Cooked shell pasta freezes well. Allow cooked pasta to cool completely, then portion into airtight containers or freezer bags, removing as much air as possible. To thaw, transfer to the refrigerator overnight or reheat directly from frozen in a sauce or oven. Freezing may slightly alter the texture of cooked pasta, making it a bit softer.
Signs of Spoilage
- Presence of mold or discoloration on uncooked pasta.
- A stale, musty, or rancid odor emanating from the pasta.
- Cooked pasta developing a slimy texture or sour smell.
