Enjoy the rich, creamy, and comforting flavors of homemade sweet potato pie. This classic dessert, made with wholesome sweet potatoes and warm spices, is perfect for holidays and special gatherings. Proper storage ensures its deliciousness lasts longer.
Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Store refrigerated pies at or below 4°C (40°F). Unbaked pies can be stored in the freezer.
Freezing
Sweet potato pie freezes exceptionally well, both baked and unbaked. For baked pies, allow them to cool completely, then wrap tightly in plastic wrap followed by a layer of aluminum foil or place in an airtight freezer container. Unbaked pies should be frozen before baking. Thaw baked pies in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Reheat gently in a low oven (around 150°C/300°F) for best texture. Freezing may slightly alter the texture of the crust, making it a bit softer.
Signs of Spoilage
- Visible mold growth on the surface or crust.
- A sour or fermented smell emanating from the pie.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the filling or crust.
