Preserve the vibrant flavors and tenderizing power of your yogurt-based marinades with proper storage. These creamy concoctions are perfect for infusing meats, poultry, and vegetables with delicious taste and moisture, but require careful handling to maintain their quality and safety.
Storage Time
3–5 days in the refrigerator, up to 2 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Keep refrigerated at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Yogurt-based marinades freeze exceptionally well, making them ideal for meal prepping. To freeze, portion the marinade into airtight containers or freezer bags, removing as much air as possible. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator for best results and to ensure food safety. While the texture might slightly change upon thawing due to the yogurt's properties, the flavor profile will remain largely intact, making it perfectly suitable for future culinary creations.
Signs of Spoilage
- Unpleasant, sour, or yeasty odor.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy spots of various colors.
- Significant separation of liquid from the solids, or a curdled, lumpy texture that wasn't present initially.
