Zeppole
Delightful Italian doughnuts, zeppole are light, airy fried pastries often dusted with powdered sugar or filled with cream. To best preserve their delicate texture and sweet flavor, proper storage is key.
Storage Time
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored for 1-2 days at room temperature or 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
Temperature
Store at room temperature (18-22°C) or refrigerated (0-4°C) if filled with cream.
Freezing
Unfilled zeppole can be frozen for up to 1 month. Ensure they are completely cooled, then place them in a single layer on a baking sheet until frozen, before transferring to an airtight container or freezer bag. Thaw at room temperature and briefly reheat in a low oven (150°C) for a few minutes to restore crispness. Filled zeppole are not recommended for freezing as the filling can affect texture upon thawing.
