Enjoy the lean, rich flavor of bison burgers, a healthier alternative to traditional beef patties. Properly stored, these delicious burgers maintain their quality for optimal grilling and dining experiences.
Storage Time
Bison burgers, whether raw or cooked, are best consumed within 1-2 days when refrigerated. For longer preservation, freezing is an excellent option, extending their quality for up to 3-4 months.
Temperature
Store raw bison burgers in the coldest part of your refrigerator, ideally between 0-4°C (32-40°F). Cooked bison burgers should also be kept chilled at this temperature.
Freezing
To freeze raw bison burgers, wrap each patty individually and tightly in plastic wrap or freezer paper, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. This prevents freezer burn and maintains optimal texture. Thaw frozen bison burgers slowly in the refrigerator overnight for the best results, or use the defrost setting on your microwave. Avoid refreezing raw bison burgers once thawed.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or ammonia-like odor emanating from the meat.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the surface of the burger patties.
- A dull, grayish-brown color instead of the typical vibrant red or pink hue.
