Freshly chopped shallots are a culinary powerhouse, offering a delicate, sweet onion flavor that elevates countless dishes. Proper storage is key to preserving their vibrant taste and aroma for your next gourmet creation.
Storage Time
3–5 days in the refrigerator, up to 6 months when frozen.
Temperature
Store chopped shallots in the refrigerator at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
To freeze chopped shallots, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer them to an airtight container or freezer bag, removing as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. Frozen shallots are best used in cooked dishes as their texture will soften upon thawing. Thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or add them directly to your cooking.
Signs of Spoilage
