Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Store refrigerated egg muffins at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Egg muffins freeze exceptionally well, making them a fantastic make-ahead option. Allow them to cool completely before wrapping them individually in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container. To thaw, remove from the freezer and refrigerate overnight, or reheat directly from frozen in a microwave or oven until heated through. Freezing may slightly alter the texture, making them a bit softer upon thawing.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or sulfurous odor emanating from the muffins.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the surface.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy spots of various colors.
