Indulge in the creamy delight of ice cream, a frozen dessert perfect for any occasion. Proper storage is key to preserving its delightful texture and flavor, ensuring every scoop is as delicious as the first.
Storage Time
Best consumed within 1-2 months for optimal quality, though safe to eat for longer if continuously frozen.
Temperature
Store in a freezer at -18°C (0°F) or colder.
Freezing
While ice cream is already frozen, refreezing melted ice cream can significantly impact its texture, leading to an icy and grainy consistency. If your ice cream has melted and you wish to refreeze it, do so immediately after it has refrozen. However, be aware that the quality will be compromised. For best results, consume thawed ice cream within 24 hours and do not refreeze.
Signs of Spoilage
- Formation of large ice crystals on the surface, indicating repeated thawing and refreezing or improper freezer temperature.
- Off-putting sour or rancid smell, a clear sign of bacterial growth.
- Unusual discoloration or the presence of mold, especially around the edges or lid.
