An assortment of delightful Indian sweets, often featuring rich textures and aromatic spices, perfect for celebrations or a sweet indulgence. Proper storage is key to preserving the exquisite flavors and textures of these traditional confections.
Storage Time
Most Indian sweets on a platter will last 2-3 days at room temperature, 4-7 days in the refrigerator, and up to 2-3 months when frozen.
Temperature
Store at room temperature (18-22°C) for short-term enjoyment, or refrigerate at 0-4°C for extended freshness. For freezing, aim for -18°C or colder.
Freezing
Many Indian sweets, especially those made with milk solids (like barfi or gulab jamun), freeze remarkably well. Ensure each sweet is individually wrapped in plastic wrap or placed in an airtight container to prevent freezer burn and flavor transfer. Thaw slowly in the refrigerator overnight for best results, or at room temperature for a few hours. Some delicate sweets with fresh fruit or cream might experience a slight change in texture upon thawing.
Signs of Spoilage
- Unpleasant, sour, or fermented smell.
- Visible mold growth, often fuzzy or discolored patches.
- Sticky, overly soft, or mushy texture that deviates from its original consistency.
