Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer
Temperature
Store refrigerated at 0–4°C (32–40°F)
Freezing
Roasted tomatillos freeze exceptionally well, preserving their flavor for future use. Allow them to cool completely, then portion into airtight containers or freezer bags, removing as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator for best results, or gently reheat on the stovetop. Note that the texture may become slightly softer after freezing and thawing, but the flavor remains excellent for cooked applications.
Signs of Spoilage
- Development of a slimy or sticky texture
- Unpleasant, sour, or fermented odor
- Visible mold growth, often appearing as fuzzy white or green patches
