Enjoy the smoky, sweet, and slightly spicy flavor of roasted jalapeños! Roasting mellows their heat and brings out a delightful depth, making them a versatile ingredient for salsas, dips, sandwiches, and garnishes. Properly stored, these flavor bombs can elevate many of your favorite dishes.
Storage Time
3–5 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer
Temperature
Store refrigerated at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Roasted jalapeños freeze exceptionally well, preserving their flavor for future culinary adventures. Allow them to cool completely, then spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer them to airtight freezer bags or containers, removing as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. For best quality, use within 2–3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or use directly from frozen in cooked dishes. Note that their texture may become softer after freezing, making them ideal for purees, sauces, or cooked applications rather than fresh garnishes.
Signs of Spoilage
- Slimy or mushy texture
- Foul or fermented odor
- Visible mold growth (white, green, or black fuzzy patches)
